Salsa Makes Recipes Easy & Awesome!!

We all like the flavor explosion we get with a great salsa, but did you know you can push those flavors into your favorite meat dishes by using salsa as your seasoning? Don't believe me, try this simple recipe:

Senor Smokes Roja Salsa Street Tacos

Ingredients

2 - Jars of Senor Smokes Roja Salsa

1 to 2 - Pounds of Lean Ground Beef

2 - Medium Tomatoes

1 - White Onion

1 Package of Medium Cheddar ( or Mexican Blend)

1 - Bunch of Fresh Cilantro

2 - Jalapenos (add serrano and habanero for more heat)

1 - Package of Chopped Lettuce

1 - Bag of your favorite Don Julio Chips (we like Southwestern Style for this recipe)

Cooking Instructions

(Preparation time approximately 30 minutes)

The Meat

  1. Preheat the skillet on high heat for 4 minutes

  2. Reduce the heat to medium and place ground beef in the skillet and brown. Be sure to continuously chop the meat with a spatula to reduce it into small pieces as it is cooking to get the as desired size of pieces

  3. Once the meat is thoroughly cooked, drain the excess fat using a colander and return the meat to the skillet for the next step

  4. Pour 1 jar of Senor Smokes Roja salsa into the meat and stir until mixed well

  5. Once the mixture starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is gone. This will leave chunks of tomato, onion and pepper in the meat

The Veggies

  1. Dice two medium tomatoes and place in a bowl

  2. Dice 1/2 of the whole onion and place the chopped portion in a bowl

  3. Pour grated cheese into a bowl for serving

  4. Chop cilantro and place in a bowl

  5. Chop peppers (jalapeno, serrano and habanero) and place in a bowl

  6. Open the bag of Don Julio Chips, sour cream and additional jar of Senor Smokes Roja salsa.

Assembly

  1. Grab a handful (or two) of Don Julio Chips and pile them on your plate. Crunch the chips to smaller pieces with the palm of your hand if smaller pieces are desired.

  2. Add taco meat on top of the chips (about 1/4 to 1/2 cups)

  3. Add grated cheese to taste

  4. Add tomatoes, onions and peppers to taste

  5. Spoon on Senor Smokes Roja salsa to taste

  6. Add sour cream as desired and enjoy!

This looks great! I can't wait to try this as an appetizer next time I have some guests over this weekend. But first I need to get some product. Thank you!
